Schools face problems that cannot be solved with ‘more time’ or isolated tweaks.  Change is often seen as adding one more thing onto our plate. We can adjust the system in the short term but in order to transform schools, we need to dare to shift our mindset & actionset.

What if we slowed down and decluttered? What if we let go of the practices that no longer serve our community and let what matters most emerge to elevate strengths and build a healthy & sustainable learning environment?

No Borders Learning offers  an opportunity to take a mindful pause to intentionally co-construct healthy learning ecosystems.

When we deliberately and collectively take a moment to sense where we are and want to be, we reconnect to our core values and develop a compassionate, courageous and empowered community of learners and leaders.

We believe that teachers have the most essential role in schools. Like keystone species, they make a significant impact on our ecosystems and in any system, their interactions with others are crucial. Co-constructing learning ecosystems is a professional development that supports schools in co-owning the opportunity for wellbeing and deep learning by supporting teachers’ autonomy. 

Autonomy isn’t about letting go of structure but about inviting mindfulness and intentionality into schools’ culture to create and sustain meaningful change.

In doing so, student wellness is supported and student learning occurs at a deeper level.

We propose an effective and flexible framework for co-constructing and sustaining healthy learning ecosystems which can be adjusted to the needs of particular schools. We lead multi-stakeholders workshops, with students, parents and administrators alongside teachers, that are structured around three essential aspects of learning ecosystems:

  • Attending to the heart – connected to our need to belong & connect to self and others.
  • Exercising the mind – connected to our need to believe we can achieve / we are capable.
  • Engaging the will power – connected to our need to feel a full sense of volition, endorsement and choice.

Our approach is based on the Self-Determination Theory by Deci & Ryan (1985).
